Let three consecutive natural numbers be divisible by 3 = x, x+3, x+6

As per question -

x+x+3+x+6 = 72

3x + 9= 72

3x = 72-9

3x = 63

x = 63/3

x = 21

Largest number = x+6 = 21+6 = 27

II Method:

When the sum of n (n is always odd) consecutive numbers is given then -

Exact middle number = sum/n

Solution:

Sum of three consecutive natural numbers is 72.

Exact middle number = 72/3 = 24

Since we are given sum of three consecutive natural numbers divisible by 3 and we know the exact middle number, then to find the largest number we have to add 3 to it.

Largest number or third number = Middle number + 3 = 24 +3 = 27

So the correct answer is option B.
