If the sum of five consecutive integers is 'S', then the largest of these integers in terms of S will be:-

If the sum of n consecutive integers is given then the exact middle number = sum/n

Note: The value of n should always be an odd number like 1, 3, 5, 7 …..

Solution:

I Method:

If the sum of 5 consecutive integers is S then the exact middle number = S/5

Exactly the middle number or third number = S/5

Now we know the third number then to find the largest number we have to add 2 to the third number as we are given five consecutive integers.

Largest integer = S/5 +1 +1 = S/5 + 2

= S+10/5

II Method

Suppose 5 consecutive integers are x, x+1, x+2, x+3, x+4.

As per the question -

x+ x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4 = S

5x + 10 = S

5x = S -10

x = S-10/5

Largest number = x+4 = S-10/5 + 4

= S -10 + 20/5

= S+10/5

So the correct answer is option A.

नोट: n का मान सदैव विषम संख्या होना चाहिए जैसे 1, 3, 5, 7 …..

हल:

I Method:

5 क्रमिक पूर्णाको का योग S है तो ठीक बीच वाली संख्या = S/5 

ठीक बीच वाली संख्या या तीसरी संख्या = S/5 

अब हमें तीसरी संख्या ज्ञात है तब सबसे बड़ी संख्या ज्ञात करने के लिए हमें तीसरी संख्या में 2 जोड़ना पड़ेगा क्योंकि हमें पांच क्रमिक पूर्णाक दिया हुआ है l 

सबसे बड़ा पूर्णाक = S/5 +1 +1 = S/5 + 2 

= S+10/5

 II Method

माना 5 क्रमिक पूर्णाक संख्या x, x+1, x+2, x+3, x+4 है l 

प्रश्नानुसार -

x+ x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4 = S

5x + 10 = S

5x = S -10 

x = S-10/5 

सबसे बड़ी संख्या = x+4 = S-10/5 + 4 

= S -10 + 20/5

= S+10/5
