SSC CPO (Central Police Organization) 

The SSC CPO stands for Staff Selection Commission Central Police Organization. Staff Selection Commission conducts SSC CPO (Central Police Organisations) recruitment exam every year for the post of SI (Sub Inspector) in Delhi Police/CAPF /BSF /ITBP /SSB department in the Central Police Organization (CPO). 

Various Posts/Departments under SSC CPO:

The various posts and departments under the SSC CPO exam are as given below:

  • SI(Sub Inspector) in Delhi Police, 
  • SI(Sub Inspector) in CAPFs(Central Armed Police Forces) that includes BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB
  • ASI(Assistant Sub Inspector) in CISF(Central Industrial Security Force)

Eligibility Criteria for SSC CPO:

Educational Qualifications:

  • A candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from any recognized University.

For the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police only

  • Male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests. However, the candidates who do not have a Valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) are eligible for all other posts in CAPFs.

  • Minimum Age:  20 Years
  • Maximum Age: 25 Years

Stage -2: PET/PST Exam -

The candidates who qualify the Paper -1,  will be called for Stage II, PST/PET. After qualifying PST/PET they will also be called for the Paper-2 of the written exam.

Note: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is of qualifying nature. No marks will be calculated for this.

Candidates coming under the Ex-Servicemen category are not required to undergo PET.

Female candidates, who are pregnant will be rejected for PET.

The evaluation of the Paper-2 of the written exam is done only for those candidates who qualify the PET/PST.

Stage - 3: Written exam -

SSC CPO Exam Pattern for Paper - 2

  • Type of Paper: Questions in the paper will be of Objective Multiple Choice Type.

  • Total Marks: The total marks for the exam are 200.

  • Duration of Exam: is 2 hours.

  • This exam is the type of qualify in nature

  • Marking Scheme: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II.

  • On the basis of their performance in Paper-I and Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Medical Examination.

Stage - 4: Medical Test -

The Medical Test is the final stage of the SSC CPO selection procedure. This test is based on factors such as Eyesight, Seven Obstacles & Tattoo Policies. On the basis of their performance in Paper-I and Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Medical Examination. Candidates, who are successful in Medical Examination, will be called for detailed Document Verification.

  • Eligibility Criteria for the Medical Test is mentioned below:
  • Minimum Near Vision: N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye)
  • Minimum Distant Vision: 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye)
  • Must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes
  • Eye standards should be without visual correction of any kind even by glasses.

Stage - 5: Document Verification/ Final Selection -

All shortlisted candidates are supposed to verify their Documents for Final Selection. Candidates are required to submit all documents in original for verification at the time of Document Verification.

A number of allowances are added to make up the SSC CPO basic salary. The SSC CPO salary allowances are different in amount for different posts as it is based upon the city of posting of the candidate.
