• Sharada river originates from Kalapani in the Milam Glacier in the Himalayas at an altitude of 3,600 meters (11,800 ft) in the Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand, India.
• According to the Sugauli Treaty of 1816, beyond Kalapani, this river forms the international boundary between India and Nepal.
• It is a tributary of the Ghaghra River. It joins the Ghaghra River at Baharamghat in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh.
• In Nepal it is called Mahakali river and in Uttarakhand it is called Kali Ganga.
