Eligibility Criteria for SSB Constable:

Education Qualification :

Essential Educational & Professional Qualification

Constable (Driver) Male Only

1. Matriculation or equivalent from a Recognized Board.

2. Must possess a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.

Constable (Laboratory Assistant)

1. Matriculation with Science from a Recognized Board or Institute.

2. Should have Certificate in Laboratory Assistant Course from an institute recognized by Central Government or State Government

Constable (Veterinary)

1. Matriculation with Science as Main Subject from a Recognized Board or University.

Desirable – One Year Experience in the treatment of different species of animals, in a recognized Veterinary Hospital.

Constable (Ayah) Female Only

1. Matriculation with Science from a Recognized Board or Institute.

2. Possessing the First Aid Examination pass certificate from Red Cross Society or Should be Trained Dai.

3. One Year Experience in Relevant Field.

Constable (Carpenter, Plumber & Painter)

1. Matriculation or equivalent from a Recognized Board.

2. Two Years Work Experience in respective trade; or

3. One year certificate course from a recognized Industrial Training Institute or Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the respective trade; or

4.  Two Years Diploma from a recognized Industrial Training Institute in the respective trade or Similar trade; and

5. Must Qualify Trade Test.

Constable (Tailor, Cobbler, Gardener, Cook, Washerman, Barber, Safaiwala, Water Carrier & Waiter)

1. Matriculation or equivalent from a Recognized Board with

2. Two Years Work Experience in respective trade; or

3. One year certificate course from a recognized Industrial Training Institute or Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the trade; or

4.  Two Years Diploma from recognized Industrial Training Institute in the trade or similar trade.

5. Must Qualify Trade Test.

Note: Multi-Skills Candidates will be given preference.

1. Physical Efficiency Test:

  • Ex-Servicemen and Ayah are exempted from PET. However, they will have to appear for the written test, PST, Skill Test, Medical Examination.

2. Physical Standard Test:

The candidate who qualifies in the Physical Efficiency Test will have to undergo Physical Standard Test. The height and weight for the physical standard test are given below. Note: Relaxation in age and height will be given to the candidates as per the location of the candidates.

 3. SSB Constable Written Exam Test:

The candidates who will qualify the PST will be eligible to appear for the written test. There will be a common entrance test (CET) for all the posts.

  • The written test will be of 100 Marks for a duration of 2 Hours.
  • There will be 100 Multiple Choice Questions or MCQs.
  • The questions will be based on General Knowledge and General Awareness, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English/Hindi.

Minimum Qualifying Marks For Written-test:

The Minimum qualifying marks for the written test is given below:

For General, EWS, OBC, & Ex-Servicemen Candidates: 50%

SC, ST Candidates: 40 %

Final Merit List will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the written examination.

4. Documentation and Skill Test:

After qualifying in the written examination, candidates up to 20 times of vacancy will be called for Documentation and Skill Test (Trade Test). The Trade Test will be of 50 marks and the minimum qualifying marks for all candidates including SC / ST / OBC category candidates will be 60%. Trade test for all post will be qualifying in nature. No marks of Trade Test will be included in the marks of paper I for preparing the final merit list. 

Note: Candidates declared qualified in PET, PST, Written Exam, Documentation, and Skill Test will be called for Medical examination. Candidates can see the detailed Medical examination process in the official notification.

SSB Constable Detailed Syllabus:

SSB Constable Exam Syllabus is discussed below :

General Knowledge: History, Geography, and Socio-Economic development of India. Knowledge of current events of National and International importance and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. Paper will also include questions on Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Geography of India.

Numerical Ability: The test of Arithmetical and Numerical abilities will cover Number Systems including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Tables & Graphs, etc.

General English & Hindi: Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. Questions will be asked from error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles, etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, etc.

General Reasoning: It will include the question of both verbal and non-verbal type. Questions will be asked from analogies, similarities and differences, problem-solving, relationship, arithmetical computation, and other analytical functions, Venn diagrams, relationship concepts, and Ability to observe and distinguish patterns, etc.
