RRB Senior Section Engineer (SSE)

Senior Section Engineer Posts is released by the Railway Recruitment Board. Interested and Eligible candidates can apply online for the post through the official website http://www.rrbcdg.gov.in.

RRB SSE Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification: 

  • The candidate must have the following qualifications for the post of Senior Section Engineer.

  •  Four years Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Manufacturing/ Mechatronics/ Industrial/ Machining/ Instrumentation & Control/ Tools & Machining/ Tools & Die making/ Automobile/ Production Engineering/ M.Sc. Electronics/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering from recognized University or Institute.

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India

Age Limit:

The age limit is mentioned below for the candidates.

  • Minimum Age: 20 Years
  • Maximum Age: 34 Years
  • Age relaxation varies for every category. 

  • OBC candidates: 3 Years

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 Year

RRB Section Engineer Selection Process:

RRB Board follows a strategy for the selection of the students. RRB SSE selection process consists of four stages :

(1) Stage I – CBT (Computer Based Test)

(2) Stage II – CBT (Computer Based Test)

(3) Document Verification

(4) Medical Examination

3. Document Verification:

During document verification, candidates will have to produce their original documents & Format of Certificates mentioned below. Certificates obtained in any other format will not be accepted.

i. Matriculation/ High School Examination Certificate or Equivalent certificate (Proof for Date of Birth and Matric qualification).

ii. Diploma/ Degree Certificate

iii. Caste Certificate for SC/ ST.

iv. Caste Certificate for OBC.

v. Income Certificate for Waiving Examination Fee.

vi. Medical Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

vii. NOC from serving employees/ Ex-Servicemen.

viii. Minority declaration on Non-judicial Stamp Paper.

4. Medical Examination:

Candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass a requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties and Visual Acuity Standard.

i. Physically fit all respects. Visual Standards-Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or

without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 2D). Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision.

ii. Physically fit in all respects, Visual Standards-Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D). Near Vision: Sn.0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass the test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff.

General Intelligence & Reasoning:

  • Number Series, syllogism, Input-Output, Coding-decoding

  • Word Building, Seating arrangement, Clock, Calendar.

  • Similarities and differences, space visualization/orientation, analogy, etc.

  • Decision making, figural classification, visual memory, Direction sense test, Blood relations, arithmetical reasoning, etc.

  • Arithmetic number series, Statement conclusion, non-verbal series, coding, and decoding, etc.

General Awareness:

  • Questions will be asked from Railway

  • Rail Budget, New Technologies & Reform in the Railway of India.

  • Indian History, Sports Polity, Geography, Current Affairs, Economy,

Arithmetic:

  • Algebra,  Interests, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage

  • Time and distance/work, profit & loss

  • Age problems, Pipes & Cisterns, Data Interpretation, Mensuration, etc.

Electrical Engineering:

  • Basics of Circuit Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, etc.

  • Electrical and Electronic Measurements

  • Analog and Digital Electronics, Circuits and Measurement Systems

  • Signals and Systems, Power and Control Systems, Electrical Machines, etc.

Electronics Engineering:

  • Energy bands, Signal & Systems, Electronic Devices, Wireless Communication, etc.

  • Carrier transport in silicon, drift current, diffusion current, mobility, and resistivity.

  • Generation and recombination of carriers.

  • Junctions, Analog Circuit, Digital Circuits, diodes, tunnel, Communication, etc.

  • Control System, EMFT, Basics of Signal & Systems, etc.

Computers Engineering:

  • Computer Fundamentals, MS Office, languages, Information systems

  • DBMS, Operating systems, Software Engineering

  • Computer Networks, Database, Algorithms, Network communication

  • System programming, Web technology & programming.

IT Engineering:

  • MS Office; Computer fundamentals & organization

  • C , C++ & Java language

  • Information systems; DBMS

Instrumentation & Measurement Engineering:

  • Transducers, Circuits, Mechanical Measurement

Civil Engineering:

  • General Civil Engineering.

RRB Senior Section Engineer salary:

Railway Senior Section Engineer Salary After 7th Pay Commission:

In the past senior section engineers recruited on the CDA pay scale of 9300-34800 with Grade pay of 4600. As we all know that 7th CPC is already implemented in all departments w.e.f. 01.01.2016. Hence, the RRB Salary of Senior Section Engineer has also been revised. The revised basic pay of RRB SSE is 44900.
