RPF SI and Constable

RPF Constable/SI exam is conducted by the Ministry of Railways to select eligible male and female candidates for recruitment to the post of Constable/Sub-Inspectors (SI) in Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) in various zones of Indian Railways. Interested and Eligible candidates can apply online for the post through the official website http://www.indianrailways.gov.in.

RPF SI/Constable Eligibility Criteria:

Educational qualification for RPF SI:

The minimum educational qualification for Sub Inspector in RPF is Graduation Degree (in any Discipline) from any recognized university in India.

Educational Qualification for RPF Constable:

You should have an SSLC/Matriculation (10th class) degree from a recognized board.

Selection Process for RPF SI/Constable:

You have to go through 4 stages of exams and tests for your RPF SI and Constable selection. These 4 stages are:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  • Document Verification (DV)
  • Medical Standard Test

Exam Pattern for RPF SI/Constable:

Computer Based Test (CBT):

  • Candidates have the option to choose a language for CBT from Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Konkani, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Odia, Assamese, Manipuri, and Punjabi.
  • The exam pattern is the same for RPF SI and Countable only difficulty level will be different.
  • Duration of exam: The duration of the test is 90 minutes.
  • No of questions: The exam paper will have a total of 120 questions.
  • Questions in the test will be asked from General Awareness, Arithmetic, and General Intelligence & Reasoning.
  • Total marks: The test carries a total of 120 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: There is negative marking for wrong answers which is 1/3 marks
  • No marks are awarded or deducted for questions not attempted by candidates.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT):

Based on the merit of candidates in the CBT, they will be called for PET and PMT 10 times the number of vacancies. It is mandatory to clear the PET and the same is qualifying in nature. Candidates need to qualify in all the tests to be considered for selection.

  • For both the 800 meters and 1600 meters running event only one chance will be given.
  • For Long Jump and High Jump, every candidate will get two chances.
  • Ex-Serviceman candidates won’t have to appear for PET.

Document Verification:

  • If you qualify the Computer Based Test then you will be called for the 2nd stage i.e PET & PMT.
  • After qualifying Phase 2 you will be called for the last stage before the final selection is made.
  • If two or more candidates are securing the same marks then the merit position shall be determined by age criteria i.e. older person will be given higher seniority.
  • Your appointment is subject to your passing requisite Medical Fitness Test which will be conducted by the Railway     Administration, final verification of educational and category certificates & verification of character.

RPF SI and Constable Medical Standards:

The medical standards for both RPF Sub-Inspector and Constable are the same. The medical examination takes place after the completion of the document verification round. Candidates are sent to the Railway Hospitals for the same. Students need to fulfill the medical category B-1 as per laid in the Indian Railway Medical Manual. It should be noted that candidates wearing glasses, having a flat foot, knock-knee, squint eyes, color blindness, and other bodily defects shall be termed as disqualified.

RPF Constable Salary after the 7th Pay Commission has been increased. The Payscale of RPF Constable varies from city to city. The cities and RPF Constable Pay-Scale are categorized on the basis of the Population.

RPF Salary(Pay – Scale) of RPF Constable is increased after the 7th Pay Commission. The RPF Constable Salary pay scale is Rs 5200/- to Rs 21,700/- along with grade pay of Rs 2000/-. The RPF Constable Salary varies according to the population of the cities and has been classified as Class A, Class b, and Class C cities.
