Indian Navy SSC Officer:

SSC or Short Service Commission means tenure of 10+4 years as a commissioned officer in the Indian Navy. However, SSC officers have now the opportunity to continue as a permanently commissioned officer based on their performance and track record. Women are granted Short Service Commission (SSC) in Naval Architect, Law, Logistics, ATC, Aviation (Observer) & Education Branches. The government has also given approval for the Permanent Commission (PC) in Education, Law, and Naval Architect branch on completion of SSC tenure depending upon merit and vacancy.

Eligibility Criteria for SSC Officer:

Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualifications:

Executive Branch

  • SSC Naval Armament Inspection Cadre (NAIC): BE/B.Tech from AICTE recognized institute / university with minimum 60% marks. (Candidate must have 60% aggregate marks in class X and XII and minimum 60% marks in English in class X or class XII).   • SSC Pilot (MR): BE/ B.Tech in any discipline from AICTE recognized institute/university with minimum 60% marks. (Candidate must have 60% aggregate marks in class X and XII and minimum 60% marks in English in Class X or Class XII).

The selection process for SSC:

The selection of candidates for SSC Officers post through the Indian Navy will be done through a Computer-based Examination (INET), and SSB Interviews (only those who qualify INET(O) exam).

  • Interested candidates will be selected on the basis of a written test which will be tentatively held.
  • Candidates will be issued a call up for SSB interviews based on their performance in educational qualification. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentages.
  • SSB interviews for NAIC will be scheduled at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam/Kolkata for ATC candidates.
  • The total duration of SSB interviews is 5-days consisting of stage I (Day one) and stage II (Four days)

1. Stage I: Stage I comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test, Picture Perception, and Discussion Test (PPDT) which will be conducted on the first day.

2. Stage II: Those candidates who qualify in Stage I will have to appear for Tests in Stage II. Stage II comprises Psychological Testing, Group Task, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview.

3. Final Selections: Those candidates who qualify in Stage II will be selected finally on the basis of Special Medical Examination. Candidates who have qualified in both stages and who are proven to be Medically Fit will be eligible for Training.

Note: Those qualifying candidates applying for Pilot Entry must appear for PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) followed by Aviation Medical, in addition, and those applying for Observer Entry must appear for Aviation Medical, in addition.
