Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

A candidate must be either -

(i) a Citizen of India or

(ii) a subject of Nepal or

(iii) a subject of Bhutan or

(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or

(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Computer Literacy: Knowledge of computer operation is a must as IBPS SO exam is conducted online.

IBPS SO Exam Pattern:

IBPS SO Exam will be conducted in the following three phases: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview Process. It is mandatory for every applicant to clear all levels of examination to get selected for the post of Specialist Officer in multiple Public Sector Banks participating in IBPS SO.

New changes in IBPS SO Exam are stated below: The exam will be conducted in three phases: Preliminary, Mains, and Interview Process.

  • IBPS has introduced separate sectional timing for each section in the prelims exam. The IBPS SO preliminary examination has a total duration of 120 minutes and 40 minutes for each section.
  • A candidate must appear for the Prelims first and the selected students after the Preliminary Exam will be eligible to give the Mains Exam.

  •  A score of Preliminary Exam will not be taken into consideration for final allotment. The final selection will be based on the Mains Exam and Interview Process.

  •  The Mains Examination will contain questions only from Professional Knowledge Subjects.

IBPS SO Preliminary Exam Pattern:

The IBPS SO preliminary examination is of two-hour duration and is conducted online. It has 3 sections with having 150 questions in total with a maximum score of 125 marks. There is negative marking in IBPS SO pre-exam as one-fourth marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

IBPS SO Interview Process: 

  • The Mains Examination will contain questions only from Professional Knowledge Subjects.
  • For the Post of Law Officer, IT Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, and Marketing Officer it has Professional Knowledge Test there is 1 section having a total score of 60 marks of 30 minutes duration.
  • For the Post of Rajbhasha Adhikari, there are 2 sections having a total score of 60 marks of 60 minutes duration the total time duration is 30 minutes for objective and 30 minutes for descriptive.

Candidates who qualify for the Mains Exam will be finally called for the Interview Process by IBPS. It is really important for candidates to fare well in the Interview Process as the final selection of a candidate is based on how he/she fares in this final round of the IBPS SO Recruitment Process.

The minimum qualifying marks for the IBPS SO interview will not be less than 40% and 35% for ST/SC/PWD candidates.

For the final selection, the weightage of the mains examination and interview will be 80:20 respectively.
